I am asking for your support for my candidacy for the Republican nomination for Congress in California's 52nd District.

I am humbled at the prospect of becoming your Congressional Representative for the 52nd District of California. I enter this campaign, not for prestige or career but as a sense of Duty and love of my Country.

Like so many in our nation, I am frustrated with the lack of performance by those who are currently in Congress. When I am elected as your Congressman, I will do "What is Right." I will work tirelessly to represent EVERYONE in the 52nd Congressional District and do what is best for our country and our district.

I bring to this position the experience of 23 years in Federal Law Enforcement, i.e. Organized Crime and Narcotics Smuggling investigations, Weapons/Explosive Investigations, the smuggling of Missile and other High Technologies and other related National Security investigations.

In addition, I have an extensive Military background with occupational skills and training in Disaster Emergency Preparedness (manmade or natural), Special Forces and Military Intelligence. I served in Viet Nam (1966) with the United States Marine Corps and in Iraq (Operation Iraqi Freedom) (2003) in the United States Army as a Brigade Commander, commanding units in Iraq, Kuwait, Turkey, Afghanistan and Qatar.

More recently I have enjoyed success in real estate investments, land development and building homes.

3/19/2008 Rick Powell, a one time homebuilder and Real Estate investor himself, spoke to the East County Board of Realtors, discussing issues relating to the economy and real estate.

3/21/2008 Rick Powell participated in a debate with the other candidates, Duncan Hunter, Bob Watkins and Bryon Joes, at the invite of the Young Republicans.

3/26/2008 Rick Powell was a guest on the Steve Becker show (KCEO Radio - AM 1000) Rick Powell and Steve Becker discussed issues and Steve Becker, a self proclaimed Independent, gave his Endorsement to Rick Powell for the 52nd Congressional District.

3/26/2008 Rick Powell made a guest appearance on the Rick Amato Radio show (AM 1170). Issues such as Immigration, Economy and National Security were discussed in some detail. The Rick Amato show will host a debate in the near future, hosting all candidates.
